Truck Drivers work atypical shifts, with many driving up to 12 hours a day at odd times, making it difficult for those in the profession to seek healthcare solutions while they are on the job. A new partnership between Telehealth provider MeMD and the Healthy Transportation Foundation seeks to alleviate these issues by providing on-demand telehealth care to employees.

As part of this partnership HFT wants to prioritize any chronic illnesses that drivers may be facing, such as diabetes and obesity. Over 60% of truck drivers are obease and over 60% suffer from diabetes, according to HFT data. Additionally, chronic conditions can be a large healthcare burden for employers, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The MeMD program will help drivers prioritize their care and focus on getting routine screenings as well as early detection and preventive health services.
