Darden, the company that runs popular restaurant chains such as Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse, has announced that they are raising the base pay of its workers through 2023 and handing out a one-time bonus.

The one-time bonus allocation will be between $100 and $300 depending on how many hours employees work each week.

The news comes nearly a year after Darden closed the doors on its restaurants in light of surging COVID-19 cases.

The company on Thursday reported a surprisingly strong quarter and the pay hikes signal both confidence about an economic recovery and potentially increased competition for workers as the U.S. emerges from the pandemic.
